Call Me When You're Sober

This song, besides the sheer greatness of Amy Lee's voice is one I relate to for two reasons.
I am currently dealing with someone who refuses to grow up. Someone who needs to put down all the things in his life that are self destructive. But he can't see it yet. So honestly, I have told him to, call me when he is sober. It's not even that he is a drunk. He just has more lessons to learn. One of them being self control is a good thing. Another being people will help you more when you help yourself.

But I learned a long time ago, you cannot want something for someone. It doesn't change anything. So here I sit, on the sidelines, waiting for my dear brother.

Now the other reason this song relates to me. Karaoke. Laugh go ahead. It's fine, my feelings aren't hurt. BUT Amy Lee Girl or Evanescence Girl would be disappointed I'm sure. Now she is a girl who sounds very similar to the lead singer of this band, who cannot stray her voice away from this exact sound. She drives me up a wall. So another singer at work and I have planned to sing this song one day in front of her. Before she has signed herself up for the myriad of Evanescence songs that are sure to follow. Karaoke doesn't really have rules, but I'm pretty sure when someone sings your song, before you, your ass will not get up there and sing it later. The crowd will surely turn on you.
Haha. Karaoke Wars... I realize how trivial my life seems after I have just explained this.

So at long last here you go...

Call Me When You're Sober
Don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
You want me,
Come find me.
Make up your mind.

Should I let you fall?
Lose it all?
So maybe you can remember yourself.
Can't keep believing,
We're only deceiving ourselves .
And I'm sick of the lie,
And you're too late.

Don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
You want me,
Come find me.
Make up your mind.

Couldn't take the blame.
Sick with shame.
Must be exhausting to lose your own game.
Selfishly hated,
No wonder you're jaded.
You can't play the victim this time,
And you're too late.

Don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
You want me,
Come find me.
Make up your mind.

You never call me when you're sober.
You only want it cause it's over,
It's over.

How could I have burned paradise?
How could I - you were never mine.

So don't cry to me.
If you loved me,
You would be here with me.
Don't lie to me,
Just get your things.
I've made up your mind.

haha karaoke wars. I'm still laughing.

I'm Skipping Spring

This song sends me to another place. Sublime, Jack Johnson,Chili Peppers and a few select others were the anthem of a better place in time. Summers in Dewey Beach. Particularly the first summer when my girls and I were 17/18 years old and this was one of the songs we would all sing out loud as we were getting ready.

I can't wait for the summer to come back! Here I am 24 and still all I can think of are the nights that turn into mornings without the slightest realization of life outside of Dewey. The days that stretch on with only the thought of just how much of tomorrow is going to be spent exactly the same way...

Garden Grove
We took this trip to garden grove
It smelled like lou-dog inside the van, oh yeah
This aint no funky reggae party, $5 at the door
It gets so real sometimes, who wrote my rhyme
I got the microwave, got the vcr
I got the deuce-deuce in the trunk of my car, oh yeah
If you only knew all the love that I found
Its hard to keep my soul on the ground
Youre a fool, dont fuck around with my dog
All that I can see I steal, I fill up my garage
Cause in my mind
Music from jamaica, all the love that I found
Pull over theres a reason why my souls unsound
Its you
Its that shit stuck under my shoe
Its that smell inside the van
Its my bed sheet covered with sand
Sitting through a shitty band
Getting dog shit on my hands
Getting hassled by the man
Waking up to an alarm
Sticking needles in your arm
Picking up trash on a freeway
Feeling depressed everyday
Leaving without making a sound
Picking my dog up at the pound
Living in a tweeker pad
Getting yelled at by my dad
Saying Im happy when Im not
Finding roaches in the pot
All these things I do
Theyre waiting for you.

So if you've got a hideaway spot this song is for you.
If not, I will gladly share Dewey Beach, Delaware with you.

I'm Not a Princess..

This one has been playfully dancing around in my head for weeks. I don't much care for the singer, Miss Taylor Swift. But I find it hard to refute this very idea of being the girl who believes in fairy tales, but will never see one play out for her.
Ahh such is life...

White Horse

Say you're sorry
That face of an angel comes out
Just when you need it to
As I pace back and forth all this time
'Cause
I honestly believed in you
Holdin' on,
The days drag on
Stupid girl
I should have known, I should have known

That I'm not a princess
This ain't a fairytale
I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet
Lead her up the stairwell
This ain't Hollywood,
This is a small town
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down
Now its too late for you and your White Horse,
To come around.

Maybe I was naïve,
Got lost in your eyes
I never really had a chance.
My mistake, I didn't know to be in love you had to fight to have the upperhand.
I had so many dreams about you and me.
Happy endings;
Now I know

I'm not a princess
This ain't a fairytale
I'm not the one you'll sweep off her feet
Lead her up the stairwell
This ain't Hollywood,
This is a small town
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down.
Now its too late for you and your White Horse,
To come around.

And there you are on your knees
Begging for forgiveness,
Begging for me
Just like I always wanted,
But I'm so sorry

Cause Im not your princess
This aint a fairytale
Im gonna find someone, Some day
Who might actually treat me well.
This is a big world,
That was a small town
There in my rearview mirror,
Disappearing now.
And it's too late for you and your White Horse,
Now its too late for you and your White Horse
To catch me now.

Oh whoa whoa whoa-oh
Try and catch me now
Whoa-Oh
It's too late
To catch me now.

Not that I'd even know what to do with Prince Charming if he did show up at my front door.

I'm On a Boat

Episode One:
I'm on a boat.

This weekend we will be celebrating the day of my birth at my parents house. This day already passed BTW, it was the 8th. Thank you it was a happy birthday indeed. Unless you read my other blog.
Anyway. I will be on a boat. And my friend LP likes to think this is exactly how the weekend will go. I assure it will not. So for you all... here are the lyrics to,

I'm on a boat.

Aww shit
Get your towels ready
It’s about to go down (shorty, yeah)
Everybody in the place hit the fucking deck (shorty, yeah)
But stay on your motherfucking toes
We running this, let’s go
I’m on a boat (I’m on a boat)
I’m on a boat (I’m on a boat)
Everybody look at me
‘Cause I’m sailing on a boat (sailing on a boat)
I’m on a boat (I’m on a boat)
I’m on a boat
Take a good hard look at the motherfucker boat
(boat, yeah)

I’m on a boat motherfucker take a look at me
Straight flowing on a boat on the deep blue sea
Busting five knots, wind whipping out my coat
You can’t stop me motherfucker cause I’m on a boat
Take a picture, trick (trick)
I’m on a boat, bitch (bitch)
We drinking Santana champ,
Cause it’s so crisp (crisp)
I got my swim trunks
And my flippie-floppies
I’m flipping burgers, you at Kinko’s
Straight flipping copies

I’m riding on a dolphin, doing flips and shit
The dolphin’s splashing, getting everybody all wet
But this ain’t Seaworld, this is real as it gets
I’m on a boat, motherfucker, don’t you ever forget
I’m on a boat and
It’s going fast and
I got a nautical themed
Pashmina afghan
I’m the king of the world
On a boat like Leo
If you’re on the shore,
Then you’re sure not me-oh

Get the fuck up, this boat is REAL!!!
Fuck land, I’m on a boat, motherfucker (motherfucker)
Fuck trees, I climb buoys, motherfucker(motherfucker)
I’m on the deck with my boys, motherfucker (yeah)
This boat engine make noise, motherfucker
Hey ma, if you could see me now (see me now)
Arms spread wide on the starboard bow (starboard bow)
Gonna fly this boat to the moon somehow (moon somehow)
Like Kevin Garnett, anything is possible

Yeah, never thought I’d be on a boat
It’s a big blue watery road (yeah)
Poseidon
Look at me, oh (all hands on deck)
Never thought I’d see the day
When a big boat coming my way
Believe me when I say
I fuck a mermaid

I’m on a boat
I’m on a boat
Everybody look at me
’cause I’m sailing on a boat (woaah)
I’m on a boat
I’m on a boat
Take a good hard look at the mothafucking boat (sha-sha-shorty, shorty, yeah)

And here is the video for it. So you can see just how awesome my life isn't.

You're Welcome.

LyricaLife Intro...

Welcome to my new blog baby!

I am a very musically inclined person. I will not try to fool you into thinking that that means I am talented at any sort of musical instrument or anything to do with music. I was taking guitar lessons, until my guitar teacher hit on me, now I stare at my guitar and wish is to make beautiful music when I strum it. (It has yet to succumb to my wishes FYI)

I just like music a lot. As I know many people do.

I am not all artsy and shit. I don't like a lot of things to do with music. Like when people scream a lot. Or when people complain a lot. Or when "singers" don't or can't sing live.Ever.
I listen to it as often as possible. I probably like pop music way too much. I have a love for the classics. But they are my classics, not necessarily your classics.

I grew up playing the flute, until an awful wretched teacher told me I would never amount to anything much less a great flutist. If there is such a thing. She told me my hands were too small and I should just quit.

So I did. Luckily keyboards are not as hard to deal with, with my midget hands and all. So I am translating music into keystrokes.

Here is where I plan on showing you just how my life relates to the music that is made. I literally translate my life into lyrics sometimes. I hear tunes or melodies while running down the street. I write lyrics when I see two people walking hand in hand. It's just a part of my everyday life.
I have strong ties with certain songs, certain artists and I am a loyal listener. I recently discovered my love for karaoke. No not other people singing. Me. I have found my voice.

And that is why this little gem was created. Songs race through my mind. I hear them and I think of things. And that is where Lyrical Life comes in.

But enough about me.
Let's get to the music...
